Its hard to believe that our little girl is now 5 years old! That means that she is about to be a kindergartener next school year and is just going to continue to get smarter, older and more mature! What a great 5 years it has been and to think that she has now lived more then 1/2 of her life overseas!!! Here's the Birthday Girl with her new barbies from G.Pa & Grammy!
Morgan has this "philosophy" that you can not have your birthday and turn older until you have your birthday party... lucky for her, March 9th was Friday, so we were able to have her party on the weekend with our friends...
Apparently, whatever Dora the Explorer does is the "thing to do"... On one of the Dora episodes, there is a fiesta with a piñata... so Morgan decided that she wanted a piñata for her birthday party... which means.... we had a week long project that we took part in... and can I just say that paper mache is time consuming!!!!
The funny thing about this piñata (which most of these kids didn't even know what one was) is that all of the kids took turns hitting it with a bat (without a blind-fold)... anticipating what was inside this big, ugly star that the adults call a piñata... But no one could break it open, so Randall took the bat, hit it twice and ripped it open and poured the candy on the ground... then it was game on!!!
Apparently the piñata has multiple functions...
And the other "big" project that I (Liz) took on for Morgan's Birthday was to make her a "rainbow flower cake".. the truth is that when I asked Morgan what kind of cake she wanted for her 5th birthday, her answer was a "rainbow rose cake" and she even drew a picture of what she wanted it to look like. But after thinking about the complications of the shape of a rose, realizing my lack of cake-creating skills... I decided that a rainbow flower cake would have to do!
After everyone sang happy birthday, Morgan wanted to share her wish with everyone:
"I wish for all of us to be friends forever"... such a sweet girl!
And to top off the day... Morgan got to Skype with loved ones back at home. And this particular picture is so sweet as Morgan was skyping with her Aunt Natalie (Randall's sister) during her lunch break at school (she's a teacher) and then all of her kids wanted to say Hi to Morgan via skype and then they all sang Happy Birthday to her. It was such a special moment for Morgan as kids from across the world sang to her.
And this pretty much sums up her day... (she sure is a Daddy's Girl!)
