6pm Flight Cancelled!

Yesterday was an interesting day for The McQueen Family. We were scheduled to fly out of one country in the Middle East to another at 6pm. When we arrived to the airport, the man looked at us as if we were crazy and said, "Sorry Sir, we do not have you on this flight." "Oh No, we have to get home!" To make a long story short, the 6pm flight was cancelled and apparently the airlines didn't contact us personally, but expected us to see that update online. So maybe it was 50/50... their fault and our fault, but at the time, it seemed like EVERYTHING was their fault as I was running after Morgan and Micah who thought it was a fun game of chase in the airport, while Randall was trying to figure everything out.

We ended up getting on the 8pm flight, but that was still 3 hours away.... How did we spend our time (you might be thinking)???
Here's Micah as he made a game out of climbing over the chairs...

A reminder, its Ramadan here (which means the local people are fasting from sunrise to sunset; and all food places are closed during these times; its illegal to eat/drink in public). However, all rules are off in an International Airport and all eating places are open.

Here's the Duo, stuffing their mouths with sour skittles (happy and loving the sugar!)

A girl has always gotta look her best: Morgan was applying lipgloss that she secretly found in her backpack...

As we counted down the time until we boarded, we were entertained by all the big airplanes flying in (Micah loved it!)

And out of respect we waited until sunset (Iftar: breaking of the fast) to eat dinner at a tiny Chili's with all the other locals. Again to pass time, we pulled out the electronics for the kids. I think Micah was watching Boz as he "patiently" waited for his food...

And Morgan was glued to the pink ipod (so grateful for technology!)

Here we are, finally on the plane and in our seats! It was definitely past bed time for everyone!
(at this point, we were not sure how the kids were going to be on the plane)

But of course, we couldn't stay in our seats; we had to switch seats because Morgan wanted to sit in between Mommy and Daddy...And to our surprise, the kids were great on the plane!

As soon as we got into the car, Morgan crashed

But this little guy refused to sleep the entire 2 hr ride home! He was full of energy (maybe it was the sour skittles).

Of course Micah couldn't resist the urge to mess with Big Sister as she was sleeping peacefully. Its too much fun when you're close enough to pull her hair! But thankfully, Morgan slept through the pulling and turned over to face the other way. And we finally pulled into our drive way around 1:15a.m and both kids were awake, happy to be home. Then they both crashed within 20 minutes of arriving! Its nice to be home.

Another new adventure. Sure hope your days are peaceful. The kids are learning so much. Yes, thanks to technology...can you imagine just 20 or 30 years ago what people in your place did? Of course, it was normal back then.

Oh Man I hate it when that happens! That seems to be a common problem of having a flight canceled with out a heads up. Glad you guys made it home in one piece!!!
