Oh, the 4th!!!

We just celebrated our 3rd 4th of July on this side of the world. Its hard to believe that we have been here for 2 years now!!! For this 4th of July we got together with friends for an ice cream gathering.... We told our kids that we were going to get ice cream after dinner time...However once you say the word "Ice Cream" around these kids, they suddenly have a 1 track mind and don't want to eat their apples, peanut butter, pretzels, etc... they just wanted their ice cream. So this is a little idea of how our night went:

The wait began... Us Moms actually were early... and so we told the kids that they had to sit and wait until the daddies got there until they could have ice cream...

And they continued to wait... during this time Micah and Eli decided to move the tables and chairs around, run in and out of the near by coffee shop, stand on the rails, etc...

At last! The wait is over and we have happy kids!

If you look closely, you will see that the boys have cones from Mc Donald's and Morgan has pink ice cream with sprinkles from Baskin Robbins (we know who knows how to charm the parents)...
And if you look even closer, you will see that Eli's ice cream cone is eaten in half and dripping down his arm. No worries, after spending more time with Morgan and Micah, Eli will be eating ice cream cones like a champ! So cute that these 3 reunited again!!!

And this topped off our night! The adults decided that we were all hungry for real food, even though ice cream for dinner wan't a bad idea; so we decided to have burgers as a symbol that we were celebrating the 4th of July. We moved our gathering inside to give the kids more space to run around. However, Micah apparently was making eyes with the Baskin Robbins worker and standing at the window and next thing we noticed was him coming out of the store with a pink sample spoon, full of ice cream! Yes, our kid is quite the charmer! Either that or the worker felt sorry for this poor kid whose parents wouldn't buy him ice cream!!!

Yummy Ice Cream!! We made some yesterday with our ice cream maker and it was the first time for me to do it without mom. Granted she gave me the recipe. It turned out pretty good though. It's not quite like the 4th without any ice cream!! Glad yall had a good 4th!! Love you all!!

Last July 4th we were there with you! I am glad that the tradition of eating ice cream on the 4th continues on no matter where you are. We had homemade ice cream that we shared with about 20 family and friends that came to Grandpa"s house. I am gad yours was yummy too! Love and miss you so much!

New traditions, are super, no matter what side of the water you are on. Glad you're around friends... We are leaving in 4 days (Sunday 5am) for our trip. So much to do and nothing like you just went through. However, we are taking 30 people with us. That should count for something. Hugs...how's the house hunting going?

Great old tradition of "the McQueen" family eating ice cream on July 4th is a great reminder of the love we have for our Lord and for each other. Randall & Natalie always did love "homemade" ice cream. Having friends over that we love celebrating the freedom we have in our country was begun as we all know because of our desire to have our religious freedom.

Love to the ice cream eating g-kids!!!
