This past weekend our family was invited to a wedding (one of our teacher's uncle's was getting married). It was the first time our entire family was invited and attended. So therefore, it was time to play "dress-up"!
Of course being Westerners, we could have gotten away with wearing our normal clothes but then we would stick out amongst the locals even more then we already do. And as far as our family's concern, we prefer to blend in as much as possible at bigger events such as weddings.
Liz and Morgan have attended a few weddings before and as usual Liz wears her abaya and shayla (black dress/head covering) and Morgan has just worn one of her normal dresses. But this time we decided to buy her a local dress so she could "twirl" around like the other girls.. and of course it had to be pink!

At the wedding, Morgan fit in pretty well with the other girls her age. She loved her "new princess dress" (as she called it) and actually didn't want to take it off when we returned home.
Randall wore a local "man's dress" called a thobe and it was interesting because all 4 of us wore dresses to this wedding!

Micah was hilarious in his little man dress/thobe. He ran all over the tent during the wedding. Who knows what all he ate and at one time, he almost climbed the stairs to get on stage with the bride. He barely sat still, but fortunately was able to stay happy during the entire 2.5 hr wedding (8pm-10:30pm). P.S. He took a 3 hr nap the next day!
Here's Liz with the kids during the wedding. Our tent consisted of all women and children while Randall's tent consisted of all men. From the comparison of stories, it sounds like there was much more food and entertainment in the women's tent. But over all, it was a great first experience for Randall and Micah!

That is awesome that you got to go as a whole family. We still haven't experienced that as it is just Eli and I that are usually the ones going with my friends to the weddings. And Corey has still never been to a wedding. I can't wait to hear what it is like on the Man side from Randall!
So very interesting. Tell Morgan she looked like a princess to me. Micah cracks me up. Would love to be around him. Keep up sharing your experiences.
ma sha' allah!! ma sha' allah!
You guys look great!!! I agree with Rachel that it great y'all got to make it a family outing.
and Micah's thobe looks great! He is the best looking blonde haired Arab I've seen in a while.
